By now you have probably already heard about Oona’s Drunken Fat Quarter Challenge. It was dreamed up in the midst a dark restaurant, loud laughing and talking, and plenty of margaritas. Oona was trying to convince us that fat quarters could not be used for garment sewing. What?!? Luckily for Carolyn, Devra, and myself….we did not agree. And trust me, Oona can be convincing. But we held our ground…and now Carolyn, Devra, Jennifer and I are all going to prove it to her!

We each got a bundle of 9 fat quarters that we get to use to make a garment/outfit. You can see the rules over on Oona’s blog. There were four different styles but I didn’t even need to pick the kind I wanted. Oona already knew. In fact, she started off early in the evening asking me if I could do anything with zombie fabric. Me?!? Use zombie fabric?!? As I’m carrying around my orange and purple skull bag made especially for my New York visit. I practically leapt out of my seat exclaiming that I must have all the zombie fabric.

So guess which bundle I got? The zombies!  But of course, we all know I love my rainbows and hearts and things so I begged Devra to let me trade one fabric for some rainbows and unicorns. In my world, rainbows, unicorns, and zombies go hand in hand. They needed to be together. Lucky me, she agreed! So I now get one piece of rainbow unicorn fabric to use as well.

I have all these ideas on what to do but I keep changing my mind! There is a deadline so I will have to make up my mind soon….off to my sketchbook!

I have to tell you all, I had such a wonderful time in New York! I got to see Clare again and spend time with Lauren and meet tons of new people! So much so that I plan on going back very soon. I didn’t get nearly enough fabric shopping in, there were so many other things to do!  Next time…..
